Research

Research involves on-farm trials of different flowers varieties from breeders. Other research on control of Red spider mites using natural enemies was carried out on some farms in conjunction with Real IPM from Kenya. Also research in collaboration with UNIDO is on the control of soil nematodes using locally available materials suitable for substrates in hydroponics as well as the phasing out of methyl bromide using soil steaming and methan sodium.

Development

Development by growers includes study groups organized by the Centre for Promotion of Exports from Developing Countries (CBI) in Netherlands. Growers share experiences and ways of improving production on their individual farms. In addition issues on human resource management as well as profitability and benchmarking on the farms are discussed.
